MISTYPOINT LABRADORS - OUR STORY
Mistypoint Labradors began in 1979 with our Misty. She died in a woodcutting accident in 1986. We purchased our Labradors for breeding and showing in 1986. We have had 16 litters since then. We do field, show and obedience with our dogs. Several of the dogs do therapy work, and our male Brady sired a litter for Canine Companions for Independence. We like our puppies to go to homes that will give them a job to do.
CH Mistypoint Snowman Chester, CGC had 31 Best of Breeds. Chester was owned by Jackie and Leroy Lund. Mistypoint Norwegian Wood won The Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Club Specialty in 1996 over an entry of 400 Labradors. Our own Mistypoint Mirror Image was Reserve Winners Bitch at the Labrador National Specialty in 1997. We have bred 10 Canadian Champions and 2 American Champions;6 have earned CD's including Mistypoint Heiress Osa CD, CGC, TT, TDI. Osa was owned by Lyn and Ralph Belingheri who now own Mistypoint Garbo UD and Mistypoint Desilu Productions CD. Osa had been written up in the San Francisco papers for her work as a therapy dog. We are proud of Mex Intl Am CH SR Mistypoint Zachary of Troon, Am/Can WC,CD,JH,CGC, owned by Pam and Mike Bennett of Arizona. Zachary finished his Championship in May of 2000.
We have bred many AKC Junior Hunters including SR Mistypoint Stonybeck Piper JH, CGC, WC. Piper was owned by Mary Trick, also of Arizona. Mistypoint Almanor Joe JH, CGC, 3 point Major, was owned by Ron and Heidi Ulm of Sacramento. Many of our dogs have working certificates and Canine Good Citizen awards. We pride ourselves on doing the best for each dog that we own. Our special dog Taylor spent many hours at our local long-term hospital visiting the elderly. My husband shows many of them in the breed ring and has had many wonderful and important wins.
Our focus has been to improve the life of the Labradors we breed. Our puppies must go to people who will make them full members of their households. Our puppies that stay here have an extremely permissive life. Our adult dogs have free run of the house and daily runs in the woods along with swims in the lake.
We check the hips and elbows of all of our dogs. We check for eye problems on a yearly basis as well as hearts and the newest of problems known as exercise induced collapse. Our puppies are house raised with much loving care.
